Catalyst 2018 LIVE Notes // Bob Goff, Best-selling Author of “Love Does”
I’m live blogging from Catalyst Conference. Catalyst is a next-generation conference that embolden leaders from all over the world. The theme of Catalyst West for 2018 is “Of Good Courage.” Bob Goff is the best-selling author of Love Does and Founder of Restore International.
Do I want to right or do I want to be like Jesus? Being Jesus isn’t easy but it’s simple.
Test everything I say by the Word of God.
We don’t have just much time to argue with people. We don’t have time. God just needs humble people who just wants to be like him.
We don’t have time. What are you going to do with your time?
Figure out how much time you have and who you want to be with?
I’m not trying to be like my wife. My wife is not trying to be like me. We are just trying to be Jesus. The key: love everybody.
Take away what you are known for, that’s who you really are. Take 12 conversations every day.
It doesn’t make things more true by destroying people.
Love Does doesn’t have a single verse on it.
“Oneness” doesn’t mean “Sameness.” If you want to be like Jesus Christ, go be you.
Jesus’ love for you isn’t dependent on your behavior. We are trying to fake and it trying to become like other people. The Bible calls you as “His beloved.”
Love is sacrifice and commitment. As soon as love has an agenda, it is not love anymore.
We were born to be brave. Joshua 1:9. “Be strong and courageous.”
Mark 12: 24: “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”
Jesus asked, “What do you want?” Why do you want it?
Jesus never had a problem with those who were confused, but those who were faking it.
Do what it takes to get what you want.
Live your life in constant anticipation. I would make a bad evangelical. I don’t think we lead people to Jesus. But I believe Jesus leads us to Jesus.
What can God do with you already have. Instead of saying, “As soon as I have this…”
It starts with gratitude. I’m actually going to start with right where I am. God wants you to make something beautiful in your life. The better question, “How is your life working for all the people around you.”
Jesus sees you and I are becoming. He calls you beloved. We need stop letting other people tell who we are.
Matthew 5:44 “But I tell you, love your enemies. And pray for those who persecute you.
