Tony Evans on Raising Leaders with Kingdom Perspective
I’m live blogging at the Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA) Outcomes Conference in Dallas, TX. The theme of the Outcomes Conference is “Perspectives.” Perspectives are about where we as Christian leaders and organizations have journeyed together these past 40 years, where we are today, and God’s plan for the future.
Dr. Tony Evans is one of the country’s most respected leaders in evangelical circles. As a pastor, teacher, author and speaker, he serves the body of Christ through his unique ability to communicate complex theological truths through simple, yet profound, illustrations. While addressing the practical issues of today, Dr. Evans is known as a relevant expositor. New and veteran pastors alike regard him as a pastor of pastors and a father in the faith.
In sports, it is known there are naturally two teams. The home team and the visiting team. These teams are always are in conflict. However, there’s a third team. The officiating team that is outnumbered but has an incredible amount of authority. They are in the field but invisible.
The problems we are facing today is not simply because the “teams” are clashing it’s because the officiating crew is ineffective.
Think about the Great Commission. There are three groups that attend the meeting. The 11 disciples attend the meeting. There’s also a group of 500 brethren that joins the meeting. There’s a third group. You and I have been invited to this meeting as well.
Worship is the recognition of God for who He is and what He has done and trusting of what He will do.
Your perspective will affect what you see. And it’s because of the officiating crew of God is not sharing the same kingdom perspective so we don’t necessary see the things as God sees it.
Jesus gives a command around three participles. The command is to make disciplines. The Great Commission is differentiated from the other four. A disciple is a person who is progressively learning under the rule of life. Until a person enters into that realm, there are not as an effective person in God’s officiating crew. The word “disciple” was regularly known word. You are in the business of producing visible and verbal followers of Christ. When disciples become radical, they can affect whole nations.
In the moment where Jesus’s authority is disappeared in this world, we have lost all authority. We need to be unapolgoetically Christian. Christian must come before first of being Republican, Democrat etc. Referees’ rule is by the word. You must adjust to the word. You can’t adjust it. Much of ministry is in the wrong direction.
